MEA Condemns Attack On Indian Ship
India has strongly condemned the attack on an Indian-flagged commercial vessel off the coast of Oman, calling the targeting of civilian shipping and seafarers “unacceptable”. The Ministry of External Affairs said all Indian crew members on board were safe after being rescued by Omani authorities.
Indian-Flagged Ship Attacked Off Oman Coast
The attack took place on Wednesday near the coast of Oman, a region already under pressure due to rising tensions in West Asia and security risks around key maritime routes.
The vessel was reportedly operating in regional waters when it came under attack. Indian authorities did not immediately identify who was responsible for the incident, but New Delhi strongly objected to the continued targeting of civilian maritime activity.
MEA Says Indian Crew Safe
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India deplores attacks on commercial shipping and civilian mariners. He confirmed that all Indian crew members on board the vessel were safe and thanked Omani authorities for rescuing them.
The statement underlined India’s concern over the safety of seafarers, especially at a time when commercial vessels are facing increased risks in the Gulf region.
India Calls For Maritime Security
India said freedom of navigation and the safety of commercial shipping must be protected. The incident has raised fresh concerns for Indian maritime interests, energy movement and trade routes passing through the Gulf and the Arabian Sea.
The attack also comes amid wider geopolitical tensions affecting shipping movement near the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy transit corridors.
