CSK Suffer Jamie Overton Injury Blow
Chennai Super Kings have suffered a major setback in their IPL 2026 playoff race after England all-rounder Jamie Overton returned to the UK for further assessment and management of a right thigh injury.
Jamie Overton Leaves CSK Camp
CSK confirmed that Overton has flown back home after sustaining a right thigh injury. The development comes at a crucial stage of the season, with the five-time champions still fighting to strengthen their playoff hopes.
Overton had been an important part of Chennai’s campaign, contributing with both bat and ball. He picked up 14 wickets and scored 136 runs in 10 matches, giving CSK balance in the middle order and an additional seam-bowling option.
CSK Injury Problems In IPL 2026
Overton’s departure adds to Chennai Super Kings’ growing injury concerns this season. The franchise has already dealt with multiple player availability issues, including injuries to former captain MS Dhoni, top-order batter Ayush Mhatre and pacer Khaleel Ahmed.
CSK have also missed the services of overseas players Nathan Ellis and Spencer Johnson, who have not featured in the tournament. The series of setbacks has forced the team management to make repeated adjustments to their playing combination.
Chennai Super Kings Playoff Race
The timing of Overton’s injury is particularly difficult for CSK as the tournament enters its final league phase. With playoff qualification still in focus, the team will need replacements and available squad members to step up immediately.
CSK recently signed Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Noronha as a replacement for injured Maharashtra all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh, underlining the pressure on their squad depth as the season reaches a decisive stage.
