Rajnath Singh to Celebrate Diwali with Soldiers on India-China Border in Arunachal
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will celebrate Diwali with soldiers stationed along the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district on October 31, according to sources.
This visit is symbolic of India’s strong commitment to securing its borders, particularly in the sensitive region near the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Tawang: A Strategic Border Location
Tawang, set against the eastern Himalayas, has long been a focal point in India-China relations. Tensions in the region, especially around Yangtse, have been high following a clash between Indian and Chinese troops in December 2022, which resulted in injuries on both sides. The Indian Army successfully thwarted the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) attempts to advance into Yangtse, maintaining India’s control over the area.
Diplomatic Breakthrough on Border Patrolling
Singh’s visit comes shortly after India and China reached a breakthrough in patrolling arrangements along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh. Defence sources indicate ongoing discussions about allowing controlled PLA patrols in specific areas, reflecting efforts by both nations to balance security and stability.
Air Force Car Rally to Honor Soldiers
Ahead of Singh’s arrival, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein will welcome the Indian Air Force’s Uttarakhand War Memorial car rally, which will reach Tawang on October 30, further honoring the soldiers in the region.
Diwali, one of the most significant Hindu festivals, will be celebrated across India from October 29 to November 3 this year, and Rajnath Singh’s presence with the troops reinforces solidarity and morale at the nation’s frontiers.
