BSF-BGB Talks Focus On Border Push-Ins
India and Bangladesh have discussed recent alleged “push-ins” across the border during Director General-level talks between the Border Security Force and Border Guard Bangladesh in New Delhi. The issue has become a major point of concern after several incidents reportedly led to confrontations between the two border forces.
India Bangladesh Border Talks
The four-day BSF-BGB conference focused on border management, cross-border crime, smuggling, fencing, illegal movement and recent tensions linked to alleged forcible crossings.
Bangladesh raised concerns over reports that suspected Bangladeshi nationals were being pushed across the border from India without following formal procedures. India, meanwhile, has said it has made thousands of formal requests for verification and repatriation of undocumented Bangladeshi nationals.
BSF BGB Discuss Push-Ins
The alleged push-ins have triggered tensions at several border points over the past month. Bangladesh has objected to any movement of people across the border without due legal and diplomatic process.
Both sides agreed on the need to maintain peace and avoid escalation along the border. The discussions also covered coordinated patrols, intelligence sharing and stronger communication between local commanders.
India Bangladesh Border Security
The India-Bangladesh border remains sensitive because of illegal migration, smuggling, trafficking and local disputes near unfenced or vulnerable stretches. The latest talks were aimed at reducing friction and improving field-level coordination.
Officials from both countries said cooperation between the BSF and BGB remains essential for maintaining stability. The two forces are expected to continue regular flag meetings and communication to prevent further confrontations.
