Putin Praises Modi’s Ideas to End Ukraine War
Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his continued engagement on the Russia-Ukraine war, saying the Indian leader has offered “very good ideas” aimed at finding mutually acceptable solutions to the conflict.
Putin Praises PM Modi’s Ukraine Peace Efforts
Speaking at the Valdai Forum, Putin said Modi has consistently raised the question of ending the war despite the close personal and strategic relationship between India and Russia.
He said the Prime Minister had shown a strong interest in resolving the conflict and had put forward constructive ideas focused on achieving a settlement acceptable to all sides.
Putin also thanked Modi for his efforts and described India’s position as neutral but clearly interested in bringing the war to an end.
Modi Repeats Call for Dialogue and Diplomacy
PM Modi has repeatedly urged both Russia and Ukraine to pursue diplomacy instead of prolonged military confrontation.
During his recent meetings with Putin, Modi reiterated that the world must move from “endless war” towards an “end of war” and stressed that dialogue remains the only sustainable route to peace.
India has maintained communication with both Moscow and Kyiv while avoiding direct alignment with either side in the conflict.
India Continues Push for Peaceful Resolution
New Delhi has consistently argued that a negotiated settlement must emerge through engagement between the parties involved.
Modi has also repeated his earlier position that the present era should not be defined by war, while emphasising the humanitarian and economic costs of prolonged fighting.
Putin’s latest remarks underline Russia’s acknowledgement of India’s diplomatic role as international efforts continue to seek a possible path towards ending the war.
