PM Modi Hails Flydubai Pilot Smit Machchhar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his courage during the flydubai FZ1073 emergency, saying his actions helped save hundreds of lives after he was seriously injured during a cockpit confrontation.

Modi described Machchhar as a “hero” and praised his determination to protect passengers despite suffering serious injuries.

The Prime Minister said the captain displayed immense courage in the face of grave danger and helped avert what could have become a major aviation tragedy.

Modi also wished Machchhar a speedy recovery and said India was proud of his actions.

Flydubai Pilot Recovering After Mid-Air Attack

Machchhar was piloting flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv when his Omani co-pilot allegedly attacked him and attempted to interfere with the aircraft’s controls.

The Boeing 737 experienced a dramatic loss of altitude during the incident before the aircraft was brought back under control. Other crew members and passengers reportedly helped restrain the alleged attacker.

The aircraft was later diverted to Tabuk in Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely.

Modi Speaks to Smit Machchhar’s Family

The Prime Minister also spoke with Machchhar’s wife and parents, assuring them that Indian missions would provide all possible assistance.

Indian officials said the captain remained under medical treatment in Tabuk and was reported to be in stable condition.

President Droupadi Murmu and several international leaders have also praised Machchhar’s actions. The motive behind the cockpit incident remains under investigation.
