Aleppo Ammunition Depot Blasts Injure Four
At least four people were injured after a series of powerful explosions struck a military ammunition depot near Al-Eis in Syria’s southern Aleppo countryside early Monday. Authorities closed major roads, evacuated nearby residents and placed emergency teams on high alert as secondary explosions continued at the site.
Aleppo Ammunition Depot Hit by Explosions
The initial explosion occurred at a Syrian army facility west of Al-Eis before triggering repeated secondary detonations from stored ammunition.
Authorities said the exact cause of the incident remained under investigation. There was no immediate evidence confirming whether the explosions resulted from an accident, sabotage or an external attack.
One civilian suffered shrapnel injuries, while two others experienced temporary breathing difficulties. A fourth person was injured in a traffic accident while attempting to leave the area.
Aleppo-Damascus Highway Closed After Blasts
Security authorities temporarily closed sections of the Aleppo-Damascus international highway and other roads leading towards the affected military site to protect civilians.
Emergency and Civil Defence teams evacuated three families living near the depot. Rescue operations were initially complicated by continuing explosions, which made it dangerous for ambulances and emergency personnel to approach the facility.
Residents Told to Stay Away From Blast Site
Aleppo Governor Azzam Al-Gharib urged residents in Al-Eis and surrounding communities to remain indoors and avoid approaching the explosion site until authorities declared the area safe.
Hospitals, ambulances and emergency response teams across the region were placed on standby as officials monitored the situation.
No deaths had been confirmed in the preliminary casualty assessment, while authorities continued investigating the origin of the explosions and assessing damage at the military facility.
