President Murmu Pushes Exam Reforms in Independence Address
President Droupadi Murmu has said the government is taking comprehensive steps to reform India’s examination system, with a focus on curbing unfair practices and making public examinations more transparent, secure and trustworthy. She made the remarks during her address to the nation on the eve of India’s 80th Independence Day.
Murmu Highlights Public Examination Reforms
President Murmu said protecting the present and future of students requires collective responsibility and stronger safeguards around examinations.
She highlighted government efforts to prevent cheating and other unfair means in public examinations while improving confidence in recruitment and education-related testing systems.
The President also described India’s youth as one of the country’s greatest strengths and stressed the importance of creating opportunities for their development.
President Praises Operation Sindoor
Murmu also referred to Operation Sindoor, saying India’s response to terrorism demonstrated the precision and capabilities of the armed forces.
She said terrorists and their supporters had been sent a clear message that those responsible for attacks on India would face consequences regardless of where they attempted to hide.
The President also described India’s decision to keep the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance as being in the national interest.
Murmu Sets Focus on Viksit Bharat 2047
The President reiterated India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and said the benefits of economic progress must reach every section of society.
She highlighted achievements in financial inclusion, digital payments, infrastructure and poverty reduction, while noting that India’s economy is projected to grow at more than twice the global average.
Murmu also emphasised environmental protection, women’s empowerment and citizen participation as important pillars of India’s development journey.
