PM Modi Reviews Civilian Evacuation Amid Border Tensions

As cross-border tensions intensify in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan to review the evacuation plans for civilians living in vulnerable border regions. This comes in light of increased shelling and firing incidents along the Line of Control.

The meeting followed a security briefing from National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The government is reportedly on high alert as border areas face repeated ceasefire violations. Over 50 civilians have sustained injuries, with 44 of them reported from the Poonch sector alone. At least 13 civilian deaths have also been reported in the ongoing border escalation.

The primary focus of the meeting was to expedite relocation efforts and ensure adequate medical and relief support to the displaced families. Authorities are coordinating with local administrations to ensure safety protocols are followed during evacuations.

Government’s Proactive Response

To strengthen civil defense preparedness, the central government has issued orders to conduct emergency drills across 244 districts. The drills aim to train local authorities in handling crisis situations, especially in the border belts where tension is mounting rapidly.

States bordering Pakistan have also taken precautionary actions. Rajasthan has sealed its borders with Pakistan, citing security concerns, while Punjab has cancelled all police leaves to maintain heightened readiness across the state. Coordination between state and central agencies has been reinforced to respond to any emergency.

Regional Stability and Diplomatic Pressure

The surge in cross-border firing has led to growing international concern, with several global leaders urging both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint. The diplomatic community has stressed the need for dialogue and de-escalation to prevent civilian harm and wider conflict.
