PM Modi Highlights India-Russia Friendship in Bilateral Talks

In a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 22, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by Russia. The meeting took place in Kazan, coinciding with the BRICS summit, which PM Modi attended with a focus on strengthening international cooperation.

PM Modi emphasized the historical significance of Kazan for India and highlighted the recent opening of a new Indian consulate in the city as a step toward deepening ties. “This consulate will further solidify our historical connections,” he said.

India-Russia Relations Reflect Strong Friendship

The Prime Minister underscored the growing strength of India-Russia relations, noting that his two visits to Russia in the past three months signify the close coordination between the two nations. He pointed out that their cooperation had expanded in all fields, with the July Annual Summit in Moscow marking a major milestone in their partnership.

India’s Stance on Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts

Addressing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, PM Modi reiterated India’s position favoring a peaceful resolution. “As always, India advocates for peace and stability,” Modi said, adding that India is committed to offering assistance whenever needed to support humanitarian efforts and the peaceful settlement of disputes.

The bilateral meeting served as an important platform to discuss these key issues ahead of the BRICS summit.
