PM Modi Defends Maha Kumbh Mela Amidst Criticisms

In a recent address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized those who question the significance of the Maha Kumbh Mela, describing such skepticism as a “mentality of slavery.” He emphasized that the Kumbh Mela is a grand yajna of unity, where all forms of diversity converge, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of India.

The Prime Minister’s remarks come in response to critiques that have emerged following recent incidents at the festival.

The Kumbh Mela, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, has faced challenges, including a tragic stampede in Prayagraj that resulted in numerous casualties.

Opposition leaders, such as Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, have attributed these incidents to administrative mismanagement, citing inadequate arrangements and prioritization of VIP movements over public safety.

Despite these criticisms, Prime Minister Modi has urged the public to recognize the festival’s profound cultural and spiritual significance, advocating for a perspective that honors India’s traditions and collective identity.
