PM GatiShakti Plan Marks 3 Years with Major Infrastructure Milestones

The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) for multimodal connectivity, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 13, 2021, has completed three successful years, achieving significant milestones in transforming India’s infrastructure landscape. The initiative, which leverages geospatial technology and a “Whole of Government” approach, has led to faster project execution, lower logistics costs, and enhanced services across the nation.

Integrated Approach to Infrastructure Development

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized how PM GatiShakti has transformed how infrastructure projects are planned and implemented, integrating data from 44 Central Ministries and 36 States/UTs. Over 200 major infrastructure projects have been evaluated through the Network Planning Group, focusing on multimodal connectivity, logistics efficiency, and synchronized project execution.

The platform’s comprehensive integration of more than 1,600 data layers has improved planning and execution, enabling seamless connectivity across the country. This effort aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.

Enhancing Regional Development and Trade

All 36 States and UTs have established their own State Master Plan (SMP) portals, synchronized with the national platform to enhance regional development. To date, over 533 projects have been mapped by States/UTs on the portal, contributing to streamlined capital investment and infrastructure growth.

Aligned with the National Logistics Policy, PM GatiShakti has addressed critical infrastructure gaps, improving India’s ranking in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index by six places to 38th in 2023. This has helped reduce logistics costs and improve trade facilitation.

Future Growth and Capacity Building

The government continues to focus on extending PM GatiShakti’s reach to the district level with the development of District Master Plan portals, ensuring infrastructure development reaches local communities. The initiative has also incorporated advanced training, with over 20,000 officials completing specialized courses on the PM GatiShakti platform.

As India marks three years of PM GatiShakti, the plan continues to drive the country’s infrastructure growth, ensuring a modern, interconnected network that contributes to the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
