The Narcotics Control Bureau has made its first-ever seizure of Captagon tablets in India, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah saying the drug consignment worth ₹182 crore was intercepted under Operation RAGEPILL.

NCB Captagon Seizure Under Operation RAGEPILL

Amit Shah said the seizure marked a major success in India’s anti-narcotics campaign. The operation led to the recovery of Captagon tablets, a stimulant drug often linked to illegal trafficking networks in West Asia.

The consignment was reportedly meant for the Middle East, and officials said the operation reflected India’s growing focus on stopping drug trafficking through land and maritime routes.

Foreign National Arrested In Drug Case

A foreign national has been arrested in connection with the case. The drug was reportedly seized from Mundra Port and Delhi’s Neb Sarai area.

According to officials, the accused had allegedly hidden the drug in a box of tea leaves. At Mundra Port, the consignment had arrived in a container that was declared as wool. Investigators are now examining the wider trafficking network and possible international links.

Amit Shah Says Drug-Free India Is Priority

Amit Shah said the government remained committed to a “Drug-Free India” and had a zero-tolerance approach towards narcotics. The seizure comes amid the Centre’s wider push to crack down on drug cartels and narco-terror networks.

Captagon is an illegally produced amphetamine-type stimulant and has been associated with conflict zones and criminal trafficking networks. The latest recovery is being treated as a significant breakthrough for Indian drug enforcement agencies.
