CJP Says Bhardwaj to Be Arrested Within 72 Hours
CJP activist Nishu Azad has said Delhi Police assured her that influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj would be arrested within 72 hours in connection with the alleged assault on her father, Sanjay Kumar, during a protest at Jantar Mantar. Police have not publicly confirmed any fresh arrest but said Bhardwaj has previously been questioned in the case.
Nishu Azad Says Police Promised Arrest
Nishu made the claim after CJP members gathered outside Parliament Street police station demanding stronger action against Bhardwaj.
She said officers had assured the delegation that action would be taken within 72 hours and expressed hope that there would be no further delay.
Aazad Samaj Party MP Chandrashekhar Azad also joined the protest, while CJP representatives Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka demanded stringent action over the incident.
Bhardwaj Previously Questioned by Delhi Police
Delhi Police said a case has already been registered at Parliament Street police station and that two people, including Bhardwaj, have been questioned.
According to police, both were served notices in accordance with law and interrogated during the investigation. Police said a chargesheet would be filed before the competent court and rejected allegations of political interference.
Bhardwaj denies deliberately assaulting Sanjay and maintains that he acted in self-defence after being surrounded by a group of people.
Police Reject ‘Cracked Skull’ Claim
The controversy intensified after a viral podcast clip purportedly showed Bhardwaj discussing the Jantar Mantar incident and alleged political connections. Bhardwaj has disputed the interpretation of the clip.
Delhi Police has also rejected claims that Sanjay suffered a fractured skull, saying his medical examination classified the injuries as simple in nature.
