Marco Rubio Says India Is A Great Energy Partner
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called India a “great partner” and said Washington is ready to expand energy cooperation with New Delhi as both countries prepare for high-level talks.
India-US Energy Cooperation
Rubio said the United States sees major scope to strengthen energy ties with India. His remarks come at a time when India is trying to secure stable supplies of oil, gas and other energy resources amid continuing global market uncertainty.
The statement also reflects Washington’s effort to position itself as a reliable long-term energy partner for India. Energy security has become a key part of the wider India-U.S. relationship, alongside trade, defence, technology and supply chain cooperation.
Marco Rubio India Visit
Rubio is scheduled to visit India from May 23 to 26. His visit is expected to include discussions on energy security, trade, defence cooperation and regional stability.
The visit comes after recent tensions in global energy markets caused by the West Asia crisis. For India, which depends heavily on imported crude oil and gas, diversification of supply remains a major strategic priority.
India-US Strategic Partnership
The United States has been seeking deeper cooperation with India in clean energy, LNG, oil supplies, critical minerals and advanced technologies. India, meanwhile, is balancing energy affordability with long-term supply security.
Rubio’s remarks suggest that energy will remain a central pillar of India-U.S. engagement in the coming months. The talks are also likely to cover wider geopolitical issues, including Indo-Pacific cooperation and the impact of West Asia instability on global markets.
