Indians Still Top UK Long-Term Visa List
Indians continued to receive the highest number of long-term UK visas among non-EU nationals, even as overall migration to Britain recorded a sharp decline due to stricter visa rules.
Indians Lead UK Long-Term Visas
Indian nationals remained the largest group among non-EU arrivals receiving long-term UK visas for work, study and related routes. The trend shows that the UK continues to attract Indian students, skilled workers and professionals despite tighter immigration controls.
The latest data also shows that Indians remain central to Britain’s education and labour migration system. However, the overall number of arrivals has fallen compared with previous years.
UK Net Migration Drops Sharply
UK net migration has dropped significantly as new rules reduced the number of overseas workers and students entering the country. Restrictions on dependants for many students and care workers, along with higher salary thresholds for skilled worker visas, have contributed to the decline.
The fall reflects the UK government’s effort to bring down migration numbers after a post-pandemic surge. Fewer non-EU nationals are now entering for work and study compared with the peak period.
Indian Students And Workers In UK
While Indians continue to lead in long-term visa numbers, emigration by Indian nationals has also increased. Many students and workers who arrived earlier are now leaving after completing courses, work assignments or visa terms.
The data shows a more balanced migration trend, with India still remaining the top source country for long-term UK visas but with lower overall arrivals. The figures underline the continuing importance of Indian talent in the UK’s universities, workforce and wider economy.
