The Trinamool Congress chief urged opposition parties, student organisations and civil society groups to come together against the BJP in West Bengal.

Banerjee described the BJP as the main political opponent and urged parties not to treat the “enemy’s enemy” as a friend. Her appeal came after the BJP secured a decisive victory in the state and formed its first government in West Bengal.

The BJP won 207 seats in the 294-member Assembly, while the TMC was reduced to 80 seats. The result marked a major political shift in a state long dominated by the Trinamool Congress.

Banerjee also alleged that TMC workers and supporters were facing attacks in parts of the state after the election results. She claimed that violence and hooliganism were being reported from different areas.

Earlier in the day, Suvendu Adhikari and five BJP MLAs took oath at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Grounds in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and senior BJP leaders.
