Jaishankar Condemns Pakistan’s Terrorism Policy and Radicalisation at UNGA
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar delivered a powerful address at the 79th UNGA session in New York, targeting Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir and its policy of cross-border terrorism. In a scathing attack, Jaishankar emphasized that the only issue left between the two nations is the return of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) to India.
‘Pakistan’s Cross-Border Terrorism Will Never Succeed’
Highlighting Pakistan’s continued support for terrorist activities, Jaishankar made it clear that Islamabad’s policy of cross-border terrorism is destined to fail. He warned that actions by Pakistan would not go unpunished and would face serious consequences.
“Pakistan’s cross-border terrorism policy will never succeed. And it can have no expectation of impunity. On the contrary, actions will certainly have consequences. The issue to be resolved between us is now only the vacation of illegally occupied Indian territory by Pakistan,” said the EAM, rejecting Pakistan’s claims on Kashmir.
‘Radicalisation and Terrorism are Pakistan’s Own Misdeeds’
During his address, Jaishankar pointed out that Pakistan’s internal instability, including widespread radicalisation and terrorism, are the results of its own policies. He remarked that the country’s obsession with fostering fanaticism is now backfiring, leading to a destabilised region.
“When a polity instills such fanaticism among its people, its GDP can only be measured in terms of radicalisation and its exports in the form of terrorism,” Jaishankar stated, adding that Pakistan’s troubles are a result of its own actions, describing it as “karma.”
Earlier, India had strongly rejected Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s comparison of Kashmir to the Palestinian struggle at the UNGA, with the Indian delegation asserting that Pakistan’s attempts to internationalize the Kashmir issue are baseless.
Jaishankar’s remarks serve as a stern reminder of India’s firm stance on terrorism and its demand for Pakistan to cease support for terrorist activities that threaten regional peace and stability.
