Pakistan PM on Lebanon Ceasefire
In a post on X, Sharif said the ceasefire was achieved through bold diplomatic efforts led by US President Donald Trump. He said Pakistan viewed the development positively and hoped the agreement would hold, helping reduce tensions in Lebanon after a prolonged period of instability and conflict.
Pakistan Backs Lebanon Sovereignty
Sharif also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon. He said Islamabad would continue backing efforts aimed at securing durable peace in the region. The statement was framed as part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic position in support of de-escalation and regional stability.
Shehbaz Sharif Regional Diplomacy Tour
The ceasefire statement came during Sharif’s ongoing regional tour. He arrived in Qatar on Thursday for talks with leaders as diplomatic engagement continues over a possible new round of US-Iran negotiations aimed at ending the wider war. His Qatar visit followed a stop in Saudi Arabia and will be followed by meetings in Turkiye.
Pakistan Role in US-Iran Talks
Pakistan has also positioned itself as a facilitator in the current diplomatic process. Islamabad hosted the first round of US-Iran talks, with a second round of discussions expected in the coming days. Sharif’s remarks on Lebanon therefore also reflect Pakistan’s attempt to stay visibly involved in the wider regional peace process.
