Iran Targets U.S. Bases After Strikes
confrontation between the United States and Iran widened after Tehran claimed it had targeted U.S. military assets in the region following American strikes on Iranian air defence and radar systems near the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran Targets U.S. Bases After American Strikes
Iran said it carried out retaliatory attacks on U.S. military positions after Washington launched strikes in southern Iran. The U.S. operation reportedly targeted Iranian air defence systems, ground control stations and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz.
The American strikes followed the crash of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter near the strategic waterway. U.S. officials said an investigation indicated that an Iranian drone had hit the helicopter, though it was not immediately clear whether the incident was deliberate.
Strait Of Hormuz Tensions Escalate
Explosions were reported in several areas of southern Iran, including Jask, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island and Sirik. Iranian reports claimed that a telecommunications tower and two water tanks in Sirik were damaged during the strikes.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy routes, making any military activity in the area a major concern for global shipping and oil markets. The latest escalation has raised fears of a broader regional conflict.
Iran Warns U.S. Over Military Action
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran’s armed forces would not leave any attack or threat unanswered. He warned the U.S. to leave the region if it wanted to remain safe.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also claimed it had launched drone attacks targeting the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. Bahrain’s Interior Ministry urged residents to remain calm and move to the nearest safe location following the reported attacks.
