Iran Says Progress Made In US Talks
Iran has said conclusions have been reached on several issues being discussed in a possible memorandum of understanding with the United States, but Tehran made it clear that no agreement is imminent. The talks are focused on ending the ongoing war and reducing regional tensions.
Iran-US Memorandum Talks Make Progress
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said both sides had reached conclusions on many topics included in a potential memorandum with Washington. However, he cautioned that this should not be seen as a sign that a deal is close to being signed.
The remarks come amid heightened diplomatic efforts to end hostilities and lower tensions in the Gulf region.
Tehran Says Nuclear Issues Not On Table
Baghaei said the current negotiations are focused on ending the war and are not about Iran’s nuclear programme. His statement suggests Tehran wants to separate immediate conflict-resolution talks from longer-term nuclear negotiations.
Iran has also accused U.S. officials of shifting positions during the talks, saying such changes create difficulties in reaching a formal understanding.
No Immediate US-Iran Deal Expected
The latest comments indicate that while diplomatic channels remain active, major differences still remain. Washington has also signalled that it is keeping pressure on Tehran while talks continue.
Any agreement between the United States and Iran could have wider implications for oil markets, the Strait of Hormuz and regional security. For now, both sides appear to be preparing the ground for a possible framework rather than a final deal.
