China Thanks PM Modi Over Shanxi Mine Tragedy

China has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for expressing condolences after a deadly coal mine explosion in Shanxi province killed 82 people and left two others missing. The incident has become one of China’s worst mining disasters in recent years.

China Thanks India For Condolence Message

Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong said India’s sympathy and support were deeply valued during this difficult time. His response came after PM Modi posted a message expressing grief over the loss of lives in the Shanxi mining accident.

Modi conveyed condolences to President Xi Jinping and the people of China on behalf of India. He also prayed for strength to the bereaved families and the safe recovery of those still missing.

Shanxi Coal Mine Blast Kills 82

The explosion occurred at the Liushenyu coal mine in Shanxi province. Chinese authorities have revised the death toll to 82, while two workers remain missing.

More than 120 people were injured, and rescue and relief operations continued after the disaster. Officials said the blast took place while hundreds of workers were underground, triggering a major emergency response.

China Orders Mine Safety Investigation

Chinese authorities have ordered a detailed investigation into the cause of the explosion. The mine has been shut, and company officials have reportedly been detained as part of the inquiry.

The tragedy has renewed concerns over coal mine safety in China, especially in Shanxi, one of the country’s major coal-producing regions. Beijing is expected to increase scrutiny of mining operations after the accident.
