Iran Says Islamabad Memorandum Not to be Signed on Sunday
Iran has said the Islamabad memorandum with the United States will not be signed on Sunday, June 14, even as officials left open the possibility of an agreement in the coming days. The statement adds caution to expectations of an imminent diplomatic breakthrough.
Iran Islamabad Memorandum Signing Delayed
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the exact timing of the signing had not been finalised and confirmed that it would not take place on Sunday.
He said the possibility of the memorandum being signed in the coming days could not be ruled out. However, he added that any public statement on the signing date required caution because of hesitation from the other side.
US Iran Peace Deal Timeline Unclear
The remarks came after speculation that a proposed memorandum linked to efforts to reduce tensions between the United States and Iran could be signed soon. The agreement is being discussed as part of wider diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict and stabilise the region.
Iran’s statement indicates that while negotiations may have made progress, the process has not reached the final signing stage. No formal date has been announced by the negotiating sides.
Tehran Urges Caution On Deal Date
Baghaei’s comments suggest Tehran is avoiding firm commitments until all parties are ready to proceed. The statement also reflects the sensitive nature of the negotiations, where public claims about timing could affect the diplomatic process.
The proposed Islamabad memorandum remains under discussion, and further clarity is expected only after official confirmation from the parties involved.
