India Slams Pakistan At UNSC Over Terrorism
India has strongly criticised Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council, accusing it of sponsoring cross-border terrorism and violating the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and peaceful coexistence. India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni, said New Delhi has every right to defend itself against terrorism.
India Slams Pakistan At UNSC
Speaking during a UNSC open debate, Ambassador Parvathaneni rejected Pakistan’s remarks on India and said Islamabad must accept that there are consequences for supporting cross-border terrorism.
He said Pakistan’s long-standing approach of using terrorism against India exposed what he described as its hollow commitment to the UN Charter. India also said Pakistan must credibly and permanently end its support for all forms of terrorism.
Cross-Border Terrorism Against India
India said Pakistan has repeatedly violated sovereignty and territorial integrity through wars, aggression and continued sponsorship of terrorism. The remarks came after Pakistan raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and referred to the Indus Waters Treaty during the debate.
New Delhi has consistently maintained that Jammu and Kashmir is an internal matter and that Pakistan has no standing to comment on it.
Pahalgam Terror Attack Context
The debate also came against the backdrop of the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians were killed. The Resistance Front, linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, had claimed responsibility for the attack.
India later put the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, citing Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism. The latest remarks at the UNSC underline India’s position that terrorism cannot be separated from regional peace and international security.
