India Rejects OIC Resolution on Jammu and Kashmir
India has strongly rejected references to Jammu and Kashmir in resolutions adopted by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), accusing Pakistan of using the international grouping to advance politically motivated narratives. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued its response on Monday, October 19, 2026, following the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Baghdad, Iraq, on October 17 and 18.
India Rejects OIC Resolution on Jammu and Kashmir
The MEA described the references to India as malicious, biased and false, alleging that Pakistan had orchestrated the statements to promote its political agenda.
New Delhi reiterated that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India. It maintained that the OIC has no standing to comment on matters falling within India’s internal jurisdiction.
The ministry also questioned the organisation’s credibility, accusing it of repeatedly endorsing narratives advanced by Pakistan.
India Highlights Kashmir Development After Article 370
The government pointed to economic and infrastructure developments in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
According to the MEA, improvements in connectivity, tourism and infrastructure have contributed to economic growth and benefited residents of the Union Territory.
India contrasted these developments with conditions in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, alleging that Pakistani authorities had used violence against civilian protesters, resulting in deaths, including those of women and children.
MEA Calls on Pakistan to End Cross-Border Terrorism
The ministry reiterated India’s position that Pakistan must vacate territories claimed by New Delhi and end its alleged support for cross-border terrorism.
It also rejected references to Islamophobia in the OIC resolutions, accusing Islamabad of attempting to divert international attention from minority persecution, sectarian violence and governance challenges within Pakistan.
India urged OIC member states to reconsider the organisation’s approach to issues involving New Delhi and called for reforms to safeguard its credibility.
