Zelenskyy Says G7 Discussed Russia Sanctions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said G7 leaders discussed further sanctions on Russia during the summit in France, as Kyiv continues to seek stronger international pressure on Moscow to end the war.
G7 Russia Sanctions Discussed By Leaders
Zelenskyy said G7 leaders discussed additional sanctions aimed at increasing pressure on Russia. The proposed measures could focus on sectors linked to Moscow’s war effort, including oil revenues, banking channels and defence-related production.
Ukraine has repeatedly argued that sanctions, military aid and diplomatic pressure must work together to reduce Russia’s ability to continue the conflict. Kyiv has also pushed its allies to ensure that existing restrictions are enforced more effectively.
Zelenskyy Seeks More Pressure On Moscow
The Ukrainian leader said Russia was not winning the war and claimed Moscow had suffered significant losses. He said stronger international pressure was needed to push Russia toward serious negotiations.
Zelenskyy also indicated that Ukraine would continue targeting Russian military and energy-linked infrastructure as part of its wartime strategy. Kyiv says such actions are aimed at weakening Russia’s capacity to sustain attacks on Ukrainian territory.
Ukraine Pushes For Air Defence Support
Zelenskyy renewed Ukraine’s appeal for stronger air defence systems, including Patriot missile support. Kyiv says such systems are critical to protecting civilians, energy facilities and key infrastructure from Russian missile and drone attacks.
The discussions at the G7 placed renewed focus on sanctions, military support and diplomatic efforts to shape the next phase of the Russia-Ukraine war. Ukraine is seeking a combination of economic pressure and military assistance to strengthen its position in any future negotiations.
