India Rebukes China Over Operation Sindoor

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said countries that see themselves as responsible powers must reflect on whether supporting attempts to protect terror infrastructure damages their international standing.

The remarks came after reports claimed that China had admitted to providing on-site technical assistance to Pakistan during the military confrontation that followed India’s Operation Sindoor.

China’s Technical Support To Pakistan

Chinese state media reportedly aired an interview with Zhang Heng, an engineer linked to the Aviation Industry Corporation of China’s Chengdu Aircraft Design and Research Institute.

The report said Zhang provided technical support to Pakistan during the four-day conflict with India. Pakistan’s air force operates Chinese-made J-10CE fighter jets, which are produced by an AVIC subsidiary.

India Defends Operation Sindoor

India described Operation Sindoor as a precise, targeted and calibrated response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians on April 22, 2025.

The operation was aimed at destroying Pakistan-backed terrorist infrastructure operating from across the border. New Delhi has maintained that the action was necessary to protect national security and respond to cross-border terrorism.

The episode has renewed scrutiny of China’s military and technical cooperation with Pakistan. India’s response indicates that New Delhi will continue to highlight the reputational cost for countries seen as backing Pakistan during counter-terror operations.
