India Intercepts 8 Pakistani Missiles Over Jammu Border Sectors
On the night of May 8, 2025, Pakistan launched a barrage of eight missiles targeting key border areas in Jammu, including Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and the Arnia sector. In a swift and coordinated response, India’s air defence systems successfully intercepted all incoming missiles mid-air, averting potential casualties and infrastructure damage.
The attempted strike is seen as part of Pakistan’s response to India’s ongoing Operation Sindoor — a precision military campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack.
No Casualties as Interceptors Neutralize Missile Threat
Thanks to India’s robust air defence grid, none of the missiles were able to reach their intended targets. Visuals captured by local residents showed streaks of light tearing through the sky as interceptor missiles neutralized the threats in real time. Debris from the destroyed missiles was found across multiple locations but caused no reported injuries or destruction.
In addition to the missile assault, reports also confirmed the attempted use of Pakistani drones across sectors such as Pathankot and Jaisalmer. These, too, were intercepted by India’s counter-UAV systems and eliminated before they could breach sensitive airspace or pose a threat to strategic assets.
Precautionary Measures Continue in Border States
As a preemptive safety measure, blackouts remain in force in several border districts, including Jammu, Amritsar, and Gurdaspur. Sirens were sounded in vulnerable zones to alert civilians, and local authorities have instructed residents to remain indoors during night hours and follow all safety protocols issued by the administration.
The Indian Armed Forces remain on high alert, and authorities have assured that any further aggression will be met with proportionate and decisive action. Operation Sindoor continues with full operational momentum, with the focus on dismantling terror launchpads and protecting national sovereignty from external threats.
