Imran Khan’s Son Attacks Pakistan Talks

Sulaiman Khan, son of jailed former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan, has accused Pakistan’s current leadership of using its role in US-Iran truce diplomacy to improve its global image while ignoring democratic concerns at home.

Sulaiman Khan Alleges Whitewashing By Pakistan

Sulaiman Khan said Pakistan’s attempt to act as a mediator in the Iran-US ceasefire process appeared to be a “whitewashing” exercise. He argued that Islamabad was trying to project itself as a responsible international player while domestic political repression and democratic backsliding remained unresolved.

His remarks came as Pakistan prepared for renewed diplomatic activity linked to efforts to reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Imran Khan’s Detention Remains In Focus

Imran Khan has been in prison since 2023 and continues to face multiple legal cases. His supporters and family have repeatedly alleged mistreatment, political targeting and restrictions on access to proper medical care.

Sulaiman also raised concerns about his father’s health, including reports of deteriorating vision. Pakistan’s authorities have previously denied mistreatment and maintained that legal proceedings against the former prime minister are being handled through the courts.

Pakistan Hosts Iran-US Truce Push

Pakistan has attempted to position itself as a mediator in the wider Middle East crisis, especially after tensions between the United States and Iran escalated. However, fresh talks have faced uncertainty after US President Donald Trump reportedly cancelled a planned visit by envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

The controversy has placed Pakistan in a difficult spotlight. While Islamabad seeks diplomatic relevance abroad, Imran Khan’s family is using the moment to question whether the government can speak for peace internationally while facing accusations of suppressing democratic voices at home.
