Four CISF Personnel Killed in Kathua Firing
Four Central Industrial Security Force personnel, including an Assistant Commandant, were killed after a colleague allegedly opened fire at a hydroelectric power project in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred at around 7.30 pm at the Sewa-III hydroelectric power project in Mashka village of Basohli, close to the Himachal Pradesh border.
According to preliminary information, Head Constable Abhidesh Kumar allegedly opened fire with his service rifle following an argument with fellow personnel.
The four critically injured personnel were taken to a nearby NHPC hospital, where they were declared dead.
Assistant Commandant Among Those Killed
The deceased were identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector Lakshman Singh and constables Rafiq Ahmed and Sandeep Kumar.
The accused was overpowered by other CISF personnel after the firing and subsequently taken into custody. His service weapon was also seized as part of the investigation.
Senior CISF and Jammu and Kashmir Police officers reached the site following the incident.
Police Probe Motive Behind CISF Fratricide
Authorities have launched an investigation to establish what triggered the argument and the exact sequence of events leading to the shooting.
The incident is being treated as a suspected case of fratricide, a term used when members of the same security force attack colleagues.
No broader security threat has been reported in connection with the shooting, and investigators are currently focusing on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation inside the CISF deployment.
