989 With Criminal Records in Delhi March: Police
Delhi Police has claimed that 989 people with previous criminal cases were identified among those involved in violence during the July 20 march towards Parliament. The figure emerged from an investigation into attacks on police personnel and damage to public property.

Police examined 2,873 people suspected of participating in the violence and found that 989 had criminal antecedents involving serious offences.
The police report said 101 had previously been accused in murder cases, while 62 had faced attempt-to-murder charges. Another 284 were linked to robbery or dacoity cases.
The figures refer to previous accusations and registered cases and do not necessarily indicate that all the individuals were convicted.
Murder and Robbery Accused at Protest
Among the 101 people previously booked for murder, 42 reportedly had two or more criminal cases, while 12 had at least 10 cases registered against them.
Police also identified 61 people previously accused of rape, 25 booked for molestation and six linked to cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The report further listed 229 people booked under the Arms Act, 135 linked to snatching cases, 19 accused of kidnapping and 67 associated with narcotics-related offences.
Police Probe Parliament March Violence
Police said facial recognition cameras, CCTV footage and videos recorded by officers and members of the public were used to identify suspects.
Permission had reportedly been granted for a demonstration at Jantar Mantar, but not for a march towards Parliament. Police alleged that protesters crossed several barricades despite repeated warnings and that some individuals attacked officers, threw stones and damaged government vehicles.
Authorities said further investigation and arrests would focus on those suspected of violence and serious criminal activity.
