DRDO Tests Next-Gen Defence Systems
DRDO has successfully demonstrated multiple next-generation defence technologies, including multi-layered ballistic missile defence and a medium-range naval anti-ship missile. The trials were conducted on June 10 and 11, marking a major step in strengthening India’s ability to counter advanced missile and maritime threats.
DRDO Ballistic Missile Defence Test
The Defence Research and Development Organisation conducted three consecutive flight tests to validate India’s multi-layered ballistic missile defence capability. The trials demonstrated the ability of interceptor systems to engage long-range ballistic missile threats.
The interceptors successfully engaged their respective targets during the tests. The systems have been designed with advanced technologies to address emerging missile threats and strengthen India’s strategic defence preparedness.
India Intercontinental Missile Defence Capability
The successful tests place India among a select group of nations with ballistic missile defence capability against threats up to the intercontinental ballistic missile category. The achievement is significant as it enhances India’s layered air and missile defence architecture.
The trials were witnessed by senior officials from DRDO and the armed forces. Officials said the demonstration reflected India’s growing ability to develop complex indigenous defence technologies.
Naval Anti-Ship Missile Test
DRDO also carried out the maiden flight test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range. The successful test demonstrated India’s progress in developing medium-range anti-ship capability for naval operations.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO for the achievement. DRDO Chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh also applauded the combined efforts of scientists, defence forces and industry partners involved in the trials.
