Congress Leaders Accuse BJP of Copying Schemes, Highlight Development Agenda

In a joint press conference held in Mumbai on Saturday, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar confronted the BJP over alleged unfulfilled promises and misleading advertisements in poll-related campaigns.

The leaders emphasized their achievements and criticized the BJP for allegedly copying Congress initiatives.

“BJP Copying Our Schemes,” Says Shivakumar

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar expressed surprise over what he termed “false advertisements” by BJP allies. He accused the BJP of replicating Congress schemes, stating, “They have started implementing the guarantees that Congress introduced. The BJP is copying our schemes to benefit people. Whatever we promised, we are delivering.”

Shivakumar also invited leaders from Maharashtra’s ruling Mahayuti coalition—comprising BJP, NCP, and Shiv Sena—to visit Karnataka. “We want them to see the impact of our five guarantees and how they are benefiting the people of Karnataka,” he said, emphasizing that the Congress focus remains on “development over votes.”

Telangana CM Criticizes BJP’s Approach to Farmers

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy joined in, accusing the BJP of spreading misinformation about Telangana’s policies. He responded to recent statements by Prime Minister Modi, which Reddy claimed misrepresented Telangana’s achievements. Reddy highlighted Telangana’s progressive policies, contrasting them with the “three black laws against farmers” previously introduced by the central government, alleging they were aimed at benefitting major corporations. “In Maharashtra, we have seen the highest rates of farmer suicides. The BJP wanted to put farmers in the hands of Adani and Ambani,” he added.

Emphasis on Development

Throughout the conference, the Congress leaders reiterated their focus on development. “We are not driven by emotions or votes; our commitment is to the development of our states and the welfare of people across the country,” Shivakumar stated. The leaders collectively pledged to continue their focus on fulfilling promises and enhancing welfare programs, positioning their policies as a model for sustainable development.
