Centre Hikes 19 kg Commercial LPG Price by ₹111
The price of a 19 kg commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder has been increased by ₹111 with effect from January 1, 2026. The revision applies to commercial LPG cylinders used by businesses such as hotels, restaurants, catering units and food outlets. The increase comes at the start of the new year and is expected to add to operating costs for the hospitality and service sectors.
Revised rates across major cities
Following the hike, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen to around ₹1,691.50. In Mumbai, the revised price is about ₹1,642.50, while Kolkata is seeing rates close to ₹1,795. Chennai now has one of the highest prices, with commercial cylinders costing roughly ₹1,849.50. Prices vary by state and city due to local taxes and transportation costs.
Impact on businesses
Industry representatives said the higher cost of commercial LPG could affect margins for small and medium businesses, particularly in the food and hospitality sector. Many establishments rely heavily on commercial LPG for daily operations, and the increase may eventually be passed on to consumers through higher menu prices.
Domestic LPG prices unchanged
The price hike does not affect household consumers. Rates for domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged, providing relief to households amid broader cost of living concerns. Oil marketing companies review LPG prices every month based on international fuel trends and other factors.
