CBSE Chairman, Secretary Transferred

The Centre has transferred CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta amid the growing controversy over the board’s On-Screen Marking system. The move comes as the government has also ordered a probe into the procurement of OSM services used in the digital evaluation process.

CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh Transferred

Rahul Singh, who was serving as Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education, has been transferred as Secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

The decision comes after concerns were raised over CBSE’s digital evaluation framework and the procurement process linked to On-Screen Marking services.

CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta Shifted

CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta has also been transferred. The government’s action indicates a wider administrative response to the controversy surrounding the board’s examination and evaluation process.

The transfers have drawn attention because they involve the two top officials of the country’s largest school examination board at a time when students, parents and education observers have raised questions over evaluation-related issues.

OSM Procurement Probe Ordered

The Centre has ordered an inquiry into the procurement of CBSE’s On-Screen Marking services. The probe is expected to examine whether due process was followed in awarding and implementing the digital marking system.

The controversy has brought focus back on transparency, accountability and technical reliability in high-stakes school examinations. With lakhs of students depending on CBSE results for higher education admissions, the government’s action is likely to be closely watched by students, parents and schools.
