Annamalai Resigns From BJP, Meets Amit Shah

Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai has submitted his resignation from the party to BJP national president Nitin Nabin in Delhi, marking a major political development in Tamil Nadu. The move comes amid speculation that the former IPS officer may launch a new political platform in the state.

Annamalai Quits BJP After Delhi Meeting

Annamalai met Nitin Nabin and BJP national general secretary B.L. Santhosh in Delhi before submitting his resignation. He is also expected to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah as part of his formal exit discussions with the party leadership.

The resignation follows months of speculation over his future after he was removed as Tamil Nadu BJP chief and replaced by Nainar Nagendran. Annamalai had earlier played a key role in expanding the BJP’s visibility in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu BJP Faces Political Setback

Annamalai’s exit is being seen as a setback for the BJP in Tamil Nadu, where the party has been trying to grow beyond its traditional support base. Reports indicate that differences over the BJP’s alliance strategy with the AIADMK were among the reasons behind his decision.

The former state BJP chief had built a strong personal following, particularly among younger voters and urban supporters. His departure may force the party to rethink its Tamil Nadu strategy ahead of future elections.

New Political Party Speculation Grows

Annamalai is reportedly considering the launch of a new political outfit in Tamil Nadu, though no official announcement has been made yet. His proposed platform is expected to focus on regional politics while maintaining a national outlook.

His next move could reshape political equations in Tamil Nadu, where the BJP, AIADMK, DMK and actor Vijay’s political entry are already influencing future alignments.
