Bangkok Pub Fire Kills 27, Injures 63

A fire at a crowded pub and live music venue in Bangkok killed at least 27 people and injured 63 others late Sunday. Twenty-two of the injured remained in critical condition as authorities launched an investigation into the blaze.

Bangkok Pub Fire Leaves 27 Dead

The fire broke out at the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao venue in northern Bangkok at around 11.57 pm on July 12. Firefighters brought the flames under control within approximately 30 minutes, but the building suffered extensive damage.

Rescue workers found several victims inside restrooms towards the rear of the venue. Authorities continued efforts to identify some of the deceased and contact the families of those injured or missing.

Electrical Fault Suspected in Bangkok Blaze

The cause of the fire has not been officially confirmed. A musician performing at the venue reportedly noticed smoke emerging from a circuit breaker near the stage shortly before the electricity failed.

Witnesses then heard an explosion as thick smoke rapidly filled the building, leaving customers struggling to locate the exits. Investigators are examining the electrical system, interior materials and whether emergency escape routes were obstructed.

Thailand Orders Pub Fire Investigation

Thailand’s Prime Minister visited the scene and said a detailed investigation would determine how the blaze began and whether safety regulations had been followed.

Bangkok authorities established a registration centre near the site to assist families seeking information about relatives. Forensic teams also began examining the damaged venue.

The incident is among Thailand’s deadliest entertainment venue fires in recent years and has renewed concerns about fire safety at crowded nightlife establishments.
