PM Modi Warns Of Trust Deficit At G7
Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the G7 Outreach Session in France that the world is facing a serious “trust deficit,” calling mutual trust the most important foundation for global cooperation. His remarks came as he attended the summit in Evian, where US President Donald Trump was also present.
Modi G7 Trust Deficit Remark
Addressing world leaders, Modi said the challenge before the international community was not a shortage of resources but a shortage of trust. He said global partnerships must be built on mutual respect, equality and long-term cooperation.
The Prime Minister said international cooperation should move away from a donor-recipient approach and instead focus on equal partnerships. He also highlighted that issues such as energy, food, health, cyber security and economic security are deeply connected in today’s world.
India US Relations At G7 Summit
Modi’s comments came ahead of expected diplomatic engagement with Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. The two leaders were seen interacting during the summit, drawing attention amid a sensitive phase in India-US ties.
The expected talks come against the backdrop of global tensions, trade concerns and the West Asia crisis. India has been closely watching developments affecting maritime trade routes, especially around the Strait of Hormuz.
Seafarer Safety And Secure Sea Routes
In his address, Modi also raised concern over the safety of seafarers and the security of global sea routes. He said disruptions to maritime trade have affected the global economy and stressed that seafarers must be able to perform their duties without fear.
The Prime Minister said protecting sea routes is a collective responsibility, especially at a time when instability in West Asia has caused loss of life and economic disruption.
