Ajinkya Rahane Retires From All Cricket
Ajinkya Rahane has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, bringing an end to a career spanning nearly two decades. The former India captain represented the country across formats and remained an important figure in Mumbai cricket and the Indian Premier League.

Rahane confirmed his decision through a video message, saying every journey has a beginning and an end and that the time had come to move forward. His retirement takes effect immediately and covers international, domestic and franchise cricket.
The 38-year-old last represented India in a Test against the West Indies in July 2023. His final ODI appearance came in 2018, while he had not played a T20 International since 2016.
Rahane also represented six franchises across 212 IPL matches. He played for Mumbai in domestic cricket and had overseas county stints during his career.

Rahane played 85 Tests, scoring 5,077 runs at an average of 38.46. His Test record included 12 centuries and 26 half-centuries, with a career-best score of 188.
The right-handed batter also accumulated 2,962 runs in 90 ODIs, including three centuries and 24 fifties. He scored 375 runs in 20 T20 Internationals.
Known for his performances away from home, Rahane recorded Test centuries in New Zealand, England, Australia, Sri Lanka and the West Indies. His century at Lord’s in 2014 was among the defining innings of his international career.
Historic Australia Series Defines Rahane Legacy
Rahane’s most notable captaincy achievement came during India’s 2020-21 tour of Australia. After taking charge following the Adelaide defeat, he scored a century in Melbourne and led an injury-hit Indian team to a 2-1 series victory.
India remained unbeaten in all six Tests captained by Rahane, registering four victories and two draws.
