US Clears $8.6 Billion Arms Sales To Allies
The United States has approved military sales worth more than $8.6 billion to Israel, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, amid heightened security tensions in West Asia and continuing concerns over Iran.
US Arms Sales To Middle East Allies
The US State Department approved the defence packages as part of emergency military sales to key regional partners. The approvals include weapons, missile defence support and command systems aimed at strengthening allied military readiness.
The move comes at a time when Washington is trying to reinforce security partnerships in the region, especially as the Iran conflict continues to shape military planning and air defence requirements.
Israel To Receive Precision Weapons
Israel has been cleared to receive Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems worth about $992.4 million. These laser-guided weapons are designed to improve the accuracy of strikes against selected targets.
Qatar will receive Patriot air and missile defence replenishment services worth around $4.01 billion, along with Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems worth about $992.4 million. Kuwait has been approved for an integrated battle command system worth about $2.5 billion.
The UAE will also receive precision weapons under a smaller package valued at about $147.6 million.
Emergency Approval Bypasses Review
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly used emergency authority to move the sales forward without the normal congressional review process. The decision was justified on the grounds of urgent regional security needs.
The approvals also come as US weapons stockpiles face pressure from ongoing military commitments. Reports indicate that Washington has warned some European allies that deliveries of certain weapons may face delays because of demand linked to the Iran conflict.
