Two Firefighters Killed in Greater Noida Fire
Two firefighters were killed and three others seriously injured after a wall and an iron beam collapsed during an operation to extinguish a major fire at an electronic chip manufacturing unit in Greater Noida.
Greater Noida Factory Fire Kills Firefighters
The fire broke out at the industrial unit in the Ecotech-3 area during the early hours of Tuesday. Fire tenders were dispatched to the site after emergency services received information about flames spreading through the factory.
Firefighters entered the premises and began working to contain the blaze. During the operation, a section of the factory wall and a heavy iron beam suddenly collapsed on five members of the firefighting team.
Rescue personnel pulled the trapped firefighters from the debris and transported them to hospital. Two were declared dead, while three others were admitted with serious injuries.
Wall Collapses During Firefighting Operation
Officials said the structural collapse occurred while the firefighters were attempting to control the flames inside the electronic chip manufacturing facility. The intensity of the fire may have weakened parts of the building, although authorities have not confirmed the precise reason for the collapse.
Other members of the fire service continued working to extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring industrial units.
The identities of the deceased firefighters were not immediately released. Authorities were expected to inform their families before issuing additional details.
Investigation Into Ecotech-3 Factory Fire
The cause of the factory fire remained unknown at the time of reporting. Fire department officials and police are expected to inspect the premises and determine where the blaze originated.
The investigation will also examine the factory’s fire-safety arrangements, structural condition and regulatory compliance. Officials are likely to review whether the unit possessed the required fire clearance and maintained adequate emergency systems.
