Trump Warns Iran Over Assassination Threat

US President Donald Trump has warned Iran of overwhelming military retaliation if Tehran attempts to assassinate him. Trump claimed that 1,000 American missiles were ready and aimed at Iran, with additional strikes prepared if an attack against him takes place.

Trump Warns Iran Against Assassination Attempt

Trump issued the warning amid continuing US concerns about alleged Iranian plots targeting him and other former American officials.

The president said orders had already been given for a major military response if Iran attempted to kill him. He claimed the retaliation would target areas across Iran and involve thousands of additional missiles after an initial strike.

Trump did not provide operational details, while the Pentagon did not independently confirm the specific number of missiles mentioned in his statement.

Iranian Threats Linked to Soleimani Killing

US authorities have previously accused individuals connected to Iran of plotting attacks against Trump and former officials involved in the January 2020 killing of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani.

Soleimani, who led the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force, was killed in a US drone strike in Baghdad during Trump’s first presidential term.

Iran has repeatedly vowed accountability for the operation but has denied allegations that its government planned to assassinate Trump.

US-Iran Tensions Continue to Escalate

Trump’s latest warning comes amid renewed military and diplomatic tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Disputes over attacks on commercial vessels, navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear programme have increased fears of a wider confrontation.

Regional governments are attempting to maintain diplomatic communication between the two sides. However, Trump’s warning indicates that Washington has prepared contingency plans for a significant military response if US intelligence identifies a direct Iranian threat.
