PM Modi, Trump Likely To Meet At G7

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump are expected to meet on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France, with discussions likely to focus on trade, regional security and major global issues. However, officials have not issued any final confirmation on the bilateral meeting.

Modi Trump G7 Meeting

The possible meeting is being discussed as both leaders are expected to attend the G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, from June 15 to 17. If the meeting takes place, it will be their first in-person interaction since Modi’s official visit to Washington in February 2025.

Officials have reportedly declined to share details of the proposed agenda, but the engagement is expected to cover issues of mutual interest between India and the United States.

India U.S. Trade Talks

Trade is likely to be a key focus if Modi and Trump hold talks during the summit. India and the United States have been working on a long-pending bilateral trade agreement, with both sides seeking progress on market access, tariffs and economic cooperation.

The meeting could also provide an opportunity to review defence cooperation, technology partnerships and Indo-Pacific coordination. India-U.S. ties remain important for both countries amid shifting global economic and security challenges.

G7 Summit France 2026

The G7 Summit will be hosted by France in Évian-les-Bains from June 15 to 17. India is not a G7 member but has been invited as a partner country by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The possible Modi-Trump meeting will be watched closely as both governments navigate trade negotiations, regional security concerns and wider diplomatic priorities. The final schedule of bilateral meetings is still awaiting confirmation.
