Telangana Plans GCC Expansion Beyond Hyderabad
Telangana is planning to expand Global Capability Centres to tier-2 and tier-3 cities, aiming to spread technology-driven employment and investment beyond Hyderabad.
Telangana GCC Expansion Plan
The State government is working on a strategy to attract Global Capability Centres to emerging urban locations across Telangana. The move is aimed at reducing the concentration of technology and corporate services in Hyderabad while creating new economic hubs in smaller cities.
GCCs are offshore centres set up by multinational companies for functions such as technology, finance, analytics, engineering, customer operations and business support.
Tier-2 And Tier-3 City Growth
The proposed expansion is expected to focus on cities with improving infrastructure, talent availability and connectivity. Telangana is looking to position these locations as cost-effective alternatives for companies that want to scale operations outside major metropolitan centres.
The plan could help create local jobs, retain skilled graduates within the State and support the growth of supporting sectors such as real estate, transport, hospitality and training services.
Hyderabad GCC Ecosystem
Hyderabad already has a strong GCC ecosystem, with several global companies operating large technology and business centres in the city. The State now wants to use that experience to build a wider network of business locations across Telangana.
The government is expected to support the expansion through infrastructure development, industry engagement, skill-building programmes and investment promotion. If implemented effectively, the move could make Telangana a broader destination for multinational back-office, technology and innovation operations.
