His responsibilities will include improving batting performance, developing tactical awareness and preparing players for the evolving demands of T20 cricket. He previously worked with the Indian men's team during their successful campaigns in the 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cups and the 2025 Champions Trophy. Former New Zealand fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan has been appointed bowling coach. He represented Mumbai Indians between 2015 and 2020 and was part of four IPL-winning squads. Pollard, who previously served as batting coach, now assumes overall responsibility for the team's preparation and performance. Mumbai Indians finished ninth in IPL 2026, prompting significant changes within the franchise. The newly appointed coaching group will begin preparations by assessing player retention decisions ahead of the IPL 2027 auction scheduled for December.
