SBI Strike On May 25-26 Deferred
The proposed nationwide strike by State Bank of India employees on May 25 and 26 has been deferred after talks between SBI management and union representatives. SBI branches are now expected to function normally on both days.
SBI Staff Strike Deferred After Talks
The All India State Bank of India Staff Federation had earlier called a two-day strike over employee-related demands and alleged non-implementation of earlier agreements.
The union had raised concerns over staff shortages, outsourcing of permanent jobs, wage-related issues, career progression, pension benefits and medical reimbursement matters. It had also flagged concerns related to recruitment and internal HR systems.
SBI Branches To Function Normally
With the strike now deferred, SBI customers are unlikely to face the branch-level disruption that was earlier expected on May 25 and 26.
Before the strike was called off, SBI had advised customers to use digital and alternative banking channels such as ATMs, Customer Service Points and the YONO app to avoid inconvenience.
Union Demands Remain Under Discussion
The decision to defer the strike indicates that talks between the management and staff representatives have made progress, though the underlying issues have not been fully resolved.
The dispute highlights wider concerns among bank employees over workload, staffing, outsourcing and service conditions. Further discussions are expected to continue between the SBI management and employee unions.
