Satyendar Jain Arrested in Delhi Jal Board Case
Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain has been arrested by the Delhi government’s Anti-Corruption Branch in connection with an alleged corruption case involving Delhi Jal Board sewage treatment plant tenders. Former DJB CEO Udit Prakash Rai and four others were also taken into custody.
Satyendar Jain Arrested in Delhi Jal Board Case
The case relates to alleged irregularities in tenders for the augmentation and upgradation of sewage treatment plants operated by the Delhi Jal Board.
Investigators allege that tender conditions and technical specifications were manipulated to favour private technology provider Euroteck Environment. The case was registered in May 2024 following a complaint by the Directorate of Vigilance.
Authorities claim restrictive conditions reduced competition, while mandatory procedures and certain wastewater treatment parameters were allegedly bypassed or modified.
ACB Alleges ₹1.52 Crore Bribe Trail
The Anti-Corruption Branch claims its investigation uncovered communications between private individuals, government officials and intermediaries concerning tender conditions and corrigenda before their official incorporation.
Investigators have also alleged a financial trail involving intermediary firms. Former DJB CEO Udit Prakash Rai is accused of receiving around ₹1.52 crore through accounts held by him and his relatives.
The allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.
AAP Calls Jain Arrest Politically Motivated
AAP has strongly criticised the arrest, alleging that Jain is being targeted for political reasons. Party leaders have questioned his alleged role and accused the BJP of using investigative agencies against political opponents.
Authorities have rejected the political allegations and said the arrests followed examination of electronic and financial evidence. Further investigation into the tender process, alleged money trail and roles of other individuals is continuing.
