PM Modi’s 77 Foreign Trips Cost ₹557.51 Crore
The Union government spent ₹557.51 crore on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign visits between 2021 and 2026, according to information provided in the Rajya Sabha. PM Modi undertook 77 overseas visits during the period as part of India’s diplomatic engagements with countries across the world.
PM Modi Foreign Visits Cost ₹557 Crore
The expenditure disclosed by the Ministry of External Affairs covers costs associated with the Prime Minister’s official overseas engagements. These include arrangements connected with official delegations, accommodation, logistics, security and other requirements associated with high-level diplomatic visits.
Foreign travel resumed substantially after pandemic-related restrictions eased, with PM Modi attending bilateral meetings, multilateral summits and international conferences across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Indo-Pacific.
PM Modi Visited 23 Countries in 2025
In 2025, PM Modi visited 23 countries, with expenditure on his foreign travel exceeding ₹180 crore. The destinations included the United States, France, United Kingdom, China, Japan, Brazil, Canada and several other countries.
During 2026, the Prime Minister had visited 13 countries up to the period covered by the parliamentary disclosure. Expenditure on these trips stood at around ₹74.6 crore.
The Norway visit recorded the highest expenditure among the 2026 trips at approximately ₹17.46 crore, followed by the Israel visit at nearly ₹11.92 crore.
Foreign Visits Focus on India Diplomacy
PM Modi’s overseas engagements have included bilateral talks, trade negotiations, strategic partnerships and meetings involving major international organisations.
The government also informed Parliament that India received $381.8 billion in foreign direct investment between April 2021 and December 2025, covering much of the period included in the foreign travel expenditure data.
