Air India Passenger Handed To Security
An unruly passenger on an Air India flight from Chandigarh to Delhi was handed over to security personnel after allegedly creating a disturbance onboard. The airline said the flight landed safely and the safety of passengers, crew and aircraft was not compromised.
Air India Passenger Disturbance
The incident took place on Air India flight AI1879 from Chandigarh to Delhi on June 7. According to reports, the cabin crew was alerted after the passenger repeatedly hit his hand and head against the scratch pane, the protective inner layer of the aircraft window.
The cockpit crew followed standard operating procedures and issued warnings to the passenger during the flight. Security authorities in Delhi were informed before the aircraft arrived.
Chandigarh Delhi Flight Incident
The aircraft landed safely at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. After landing, the passenger was handed over to security personnel for further action.
Air India said the matter has also been reported to the aviation regulator. The airline maintained that the situation was handled in line with safety protocol and that there was no risk to the aircraft during the flight.
Air India No-Fly Review
A committee is expected to review whether the passenger should be placed on the airline’s no-fly list. Such action is generally considered in cases involving unruly behaviour that may affect flight safety or aircraft operations.
Air India said it follows a zero-tolerance policy towards behaviour that can affect the safety and security of passengers, crew members and aircraft operations.
The incident comes amid increased scrutiny of passenger conduct onboard flights, with airlines required to report serious cases of unruly behaviour to aviation authorities.
