PM Modi Praises Nuclear Scientists

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India’s nuclear scientists during the 133rd episode of Mann Ki Baat, highlighting the successful criticality of the Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam in Tamil Nadu as a major milestone in India’s nuclear energy journey.

Addressing the nation, PM Modi said Indian nuclear scientists had made the country proud with another major achievement. He noted that India has always linked science with national progress and said the country’s civil nuclear programme is making an important contribution to nation-building.

The Prime Minister said nuclear technology has supported sectors ranging from agriculture to modern innovation, underlining its wider role beyond power generation.

Kalpakkam Fast Breeder Reactor Achieves Criticality

PM Modi referred to the Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam achieving criticality. Criticality means a reactor has successfully achieved a self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction for the first time, marking its entry into the operational stage.

He described the development as a historic milestone in India’s nuclear energy programme. The reactor has been built using indigenous technology, strengthening India’s push for self-reliance in advanced scientific infrastructure.

Mann Ki Baat Highlights Wind Energy Growth

Apart from nuclear energy, PM Modi also spoke about India’s growth in wind power. He said the country’s wind energy capacity has crossed 56 gigawatts and India now ranks fourth globally in wind power capacity.

The address focused on India’s scientific progress, clean energy expansion and the role of citizens in national development. PM Modi said such achievements reflect the strength of Indian innovation and the commitment of scientists working for the country’s future.
